Gregeration X Newsletter January 17, 2026-Time keeps On Slippin’

Posted on February 13, 2026February 13, 2026 by Greg Sorber

There’s an old song with the lyrics “time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’ into the future…” (bonus points if you can guess what song and group it’s from). But I definitely get that feeling with the start of 2026. We’re already more than halfway through the first month! I’ve heard that you shouldn’t wish people a happy new year after the first week, but I’m going to do it anyway since this is the first contact I’ve had with you. Happy New Year!

I don’t have much news to share this time. For the last part of December and early January, I slipped into full vacation mode and took some well-deserved time to recharge.

I ended the year tangling with Murphy’s Law, and unfortunately, Murphy wasn’t quite done with me yet. Last week we unexpectedly lost our beloved beagle, Orson. When you become a pet owner, you know that eventually losing them is an inevitable part of life, but it always sucks when it happens. At some point I’ll share some more stories about Orson, or Boris as we called him when he was being particularly mischievous. But for now I’ll just leave it at he’ll be missed.

I’m getting back on track this week because I can’t wait to share The Willstone Legacy with all of you! See below for more updates.

Podcast Appearance!

In my last newsletter, I posted the Apple and Spotify links to my interview with Marc and Trent of Geek Off The Street. If you missed it…or if you’re a glutton for punishment (or really love the content!), here’s the link for the YouTube version. I think they did a few edits to this one to keep it under an hour, but it still should be a lot of fun.

As mentioned before we discuss the conclusion of Mechhaven and for the first time publicly, I talk about my new series, The Willstone Legacy. Enjoy!

Interview With Greg Sorber

Novel Notices

  • I was surprised at how few words I added to the word count of Birthright over the last four weeks. In my head I made quite a bit of progress. I’ll wait until next month to share my current word count.
  • I’m still in the middle of Act II and have started describing a pivotal battle scene, so it’s important I get the staging just right.
  • While my word count hasn’t been great, during a flash of inspiration, I solved a problem in Act III in a fun and creative way that has the potential to be very cool.
  • In other news, I just received a rough draft of a major redesign of my website. This will be the first time it’s been updated. So far, it looks great. There will still be a few tweaks to make before everything is finalized, but it will definitely highlight my books more than my current version.

Here are my upcoming appearances:

Pasadena Comic Con is next weekend! Come out and see me in Artists Alley. I’ll be grouped with at least three other Sci-Fi authors. This was one of my best shows last year, so come out and see me, it should be a lot of fun!

  • Pasadena Comic Con on January 25th
  • WonderCon from March 27th-29th
  • Comic Con Revolution Ontario from May 16th-17th.
  • I’m always looking for other opportunities which I’ll post here as soon as I can confirm. I will be attending the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books in April. If I do, I’ll be sharing the booth with several other authors. We’re currently working out the details, so once I have anything solid to report I’ll let you know.

When John Miller signs up for the rescue mission to the Proxima Centauri outpost, he expects to find his former lover, Hana, the brilliant physicist behind the invention of near light engines, dead.

Instead he and his team find Hana missing and a large part of the outpost destroyed.

John’s team suspects suicide. John knows Hana would never give up so easily.

John and Hana are very different people. Their relationship was a fluke born of proximity and convenience. But when he discovers her Hail Mary attempt to return to Earth with a dangerous, experimental faster-than-light vessel, he has to follow her.

But it isn’t where Hana has gone that is the real surprise. It’s when …

Vessels damaged, fighting for survival, Hana and John struggle to rebuild the basics of civilization from scratch. They’re in a world where unboiled water or an untreated cut can result in death, and four-legged predators lurk in the trees. But the greatest threats to Hana and John are almost human.
