Last weekend was at L.A. Comic Con, which was my biggest show to date! And it was huge, consuming most of the L.A. Convention Center. My table was in Artists Alley, which was in Kenetia Hall, a converted underground parking structure. I was very familiar with the room as I’d spent quite a bit of time in Artists Alley at Anime Expo.
I was on my own for most of the day on Friday, but one of my sons came to help on Friday evening and throughout the weekend. There were a lot of fans of all franchises of pop culture and hundreds of vendors selling their wares. I know one couple who had come all the way from Spain!
Indie authors were well represented, but spread throughout the various halls and Artists Alley. In my row alone, there were four author tables in very close proximity to each other. It was a blast interacting with the other authors throughout the weekend.
Having all five books of the Mechhaven series released and being able to present my books as a complete series felt great.
What’s next now that I’ve released By Archangel’s Light?
I’ve slated October for finishing the Mechhaven novella I’ve mentioned previously. With that as my sole focus, I believe I can finish writing the first draft this month and then polish it up enough to release it by the end of November/early December. Here’s a little preview:
In November, I’ll be taking part in Novel November, which is replacing the now defunct NaNoWriMo in which writers strive to write 50,000 words in a month (basically a short novel). This activity has built-in supports for writers and is now sponsored by some popular writing-related companies.
I’ve known about this annual event for a long time, but it has never lined up with my schedule or writing goals. Finally, this year, it does! However, instead of writing a novel, I’ll be using the time to write three short stories/novellas that lead into my next series (more on that later!).
