Gregeration X Newsletter December 9, 2023-The One Without A Title

Posted on December 12, 2023June 2, 2025 by Greg Sorber

About this time last year, a major sinus infection knocked me on my butt. It made my teeth hurt so bad that at one point I went to the dentist just to make sure I didn’t have any dental problems! In treating that infection and after several follow-up appointments, it became apparent that the cause of the sinus issues was also contributing to many other problems such as asthma, allergies, loss of hearing in one ear, and loss of smell. We tried several non-invasive treatments with varying levels of success, but ultimately decided surgery would be the best option. So, next week I’ll have a procedure done which will hopefully lead to some long-term healing and relief.

There will be a bit of a recovery period, which is why I’m having it done a few days before the start of my winter break from work. I normally try to be productive with my writing during the holidays, but this year I’m not setting any goals. If I feel up to it, I’ll totally crank out some words, but I also want to recover without any stress. At worst, it will be a good time to catch up on some movies and tv shows.

Currently, I’m watching Gen V (The Boys spin-off), Monarch (Godzilla spin-off), and Invincible. I’m enjoying all three. I’ve heard that Godzilla Minus One is really good, so I’ll be watching that on Sunday. It’s about time to watch some Christmas movies, too. Elf is my current favorite, but I also love White Christmas. I’m looking forward to rewatching Spirited with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. Those two are a riot together. There’s a handful of classic Christmas movies that I’ve never seen (or remember seeing) such as A Miracle on 34th Street and It’s A Wonderful Life. Maybe this is the year I finally watch them!

If all else fails, I always love watching Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, and Harry Potter during the holidays. What are your favorite movies or shows to watch this time of year?

Mechhaven Missives

  • By Archangel’s Light (Mechhaven Book 5) is progressing. I tend to write in sequence based on my outline, but right now, I’m jumping between key scenes in various parts of the book as inspiration strikes. I think my brain just wants to get these important moments down. They may change somewhat by the time I get back to them, but it feels good to get these done. I’m pretty happy with them so far.
  • One of my goals in 2024 is to do six to ten in-person events, shows, or comic-cons. So far I have two confirmed, Pasadena Comic-Con in January and Ontario Comic-Con Revolution in May. I applied to another in March. It’s kind of big, so hopefully they’ll accept my application. I should know in early January if I’m selected. Wish me luck!
  • I have an additional email scheduled to go out on December 18th. This will announce some promotions that will run between December 18th and December 25th. This will be a great time to pick up the first four Mechhaven books or any you haven’t read yet!

Soon, she finds herself helping other soldiers dumped from Zedger. Recent “disposals” have lost their minds to the Genesis program Astrals use to control their creations. Marci must deep dive the soldiers’ cerebral enhancements to figure out why and salvage everyone she can.
