I don’t know about you, but the last four weeks have been a blur. During that time, my family celebrated my son’s birthday, my wife’s and my wedding anniversary, and Easter. Throw in WonderCon and 2025 tax prep into the mix, and time flew like nobody’s business. This weekend I’m catching up on a few things around the house, writing, and prepping for the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books next weekend. (More on that below).
WonderCon 2026 was my best show to date! I sold out of Pax Machina and was down to one copy of Mechs and Machinations!
Below is a collage of readers: some started with Book 1, others came back for the next book in the series, and others took the plunge and picked up the entire series!
Sometimes I’m at a loss for words when people buy my books, whether it is in-person or online. I just want to say: Thank you for your support! It means the world to me! Also, thank you for supporting independent authors and artists!
It’s fun to take pictures with the readers I meet at shows. I apologize if you bought a book on Friday; I completely forgot to take pictures on that day! The ones below are from Saturday and Sunday only.
One reader pictured below, picked up Books 1-4 last year and came back for the final book this year. He was so enthusiastic about everything he’d read so far (most of the way through Book 3!). He really got what I was going for with some of the story arcs. That type of feedback is fuel for a creative’s soul! I hope you have a great 2026 and enjoy the last book in the series!
I mentioned Robin Hobb in my last newsletter. On the way to WonderCon, my son asked me which authors I’d like to meet if I ever get the chance. I rattled off a list, which included Robin Hobb. Surprisingly, through a random Instagram post, we discovered she was going to be at WonderCon! I took the opportunity to geek out and sat in on one panel and one Q & A session. Novel Notices
- I’m still writing Act II of Birthright, but I’m inching ever closer to wrapping it up. I hope to have started on Act III by the time of my next newsletter.
- My new website is just about ready for unveiling. That too, I hope, is ready to go by next month.
- Although I’m not actively working on them at the moment, ideas for future Mechhaven stories keep popping into my head. So they don’t interrupt my current workflow, I have to tamp them back down and let them percolate while I work on the Willstone Legacy. Still, they are very tantalizing…
