Gregeration X Newsletter August 9, 2025-Summer Slam!

Posted on August 23, 2025August 23, 2025 by Greg Sorber

It’s time for the Summer Slam!

I’m sure I’ve mentioned in this newsletter before that this time of year is very busy for me in my regular job. Combine that with prepping to release Book 5 and a variety of other unexpected events/tasks/chores, and I’ve had a hectic summer.

I’m sure it’s a bit of recency bias, but it seems like every summer gets crazier! That said, I’m not complaining, but it would be nice to slow down and smell the roses, so to speak. Everything will start slowing down as soon as I wrap up By Archangel’s Light, and work, while it doesn’t slow down, will become less crazy in the fall.

Speaking of fall, I have three events locked in coming up in September, October and November for which I’ll send out more details in a future update. I’ll be at Los Angeles Comic Con in September, GameACon in Palm Springs in October, and AuthorNation in Las Vegas in November. WonderCon is set for next March and Comic Con Revolution for next May! I hope to find one or two more shows in early 2026.

Mechhaven Missives

The end is near…for Mechhaven Book 5 By Archangels’ Light, that is…

I’ve been working hard on my final review/polish pass and am very pleased with the overall story. As of this morning, I have eleven chapters left to review. At my current pace, it will probably take me three to four more days to wrap up. Once that is done, I will enter the formatting phase, which should take a week or less. I have to finish the formatting part before I can send the exact page number and other details to my cover artist to put the final touches on the paperback cover.

It’s all coming together, and in the next newsletter, I expect to have a release date to share with everyone.

I can’t wait to share it with you!

You hold in your hands a gateway to Jonathan Fesmire’s weird western alternate history. This collection of twelve character-driven stories explores morality, technology, and intrigue in a Wild West that never was but might have been.

Join characters from Jonathan’s novels, like Anna Lynn Boyd, James “Bodacious” Creed, The Dockside Poltergeist, and Lucy Morgan as they face new challenges. The stories include mechanical marvels, love, heroes battling prejudice, and thrilling adventures.

Witness a forbidden romance, the kindness of a friendly automaton, resurrection, and the chaos of the San Francisco Riot of 1877. Even Wild Bill Hickok makes an era-changing appearance.

Whether you’re a longtime fan of the Bodacious Creed novels or a new reader, this collection delivers!

Guts and Gears: Tales of the Weird West provides an ideal introduction to the world of Bodacious Creed.

It is only a game—right?

The story is a near future cyberpunk tale. Ariel receives an invitation from her fixer to participate as a beta tester for a new VR game produced by Nexus Advanced Systems Technology, Inc. (NASTI). Word is, what you earn in the game, you get to keep for real—easy money. Also, the with the new technology, everything you feel in the game, you feel for real. But it is only a game—right?

Unknown to the game testers, NASTI receives its funding from DARPA, and a eugenics foundation. The game is a testing ground for a new generation of warfare. War in cyberspace instead of the real world. Die in the game, and you die for real.

Indie Artist/Author Spotlight

This section will return in the next newsletter…I didn’t want to slow down my review of Book 5 to prep for this week, but since I have a ton of books and comics I’ve picked up at shows, this section will continue!

Until next time, have fun and read a lot of books!
