I long to see the stars…
Work, summer heat, smoke, and allergies have all conspired to keep me inside. Now, the weather is cooling off, it’s getting darker earlier, and work is settling down, so I’m making a concerted effort to get outside more. I’m sure my dogs will appreciate this, as they’ll benefit from me taking them on more walks.
BUT… what I really want to see the stars! When I leave for work in the morning, I can see some… but sadly the light pollution is pretty bad, so at most you can see Orion and a handful of other constellations. What I really want is the unadulterated night sky with no light pollution. I want to see millions of stars; I want to see the Milky Way, comets, quasars (can you even see those?). The last time I had such a view was when my family visited Yosemite. That was something else!
My next vacation will definitely have to be somewhere really dark so I can see the universe!
