Mechhaven Missives
A (Brief History) of Mechhaven and Pax Machina
I started Pax Machina in April 2019. I may have done some preliminary work prior to that, but I haven’t been able to locate any older files. At that point, it was just called Mechhaven, and I expected it to be a stand-alone novel.
I didn’t make much progress on it until late January/February 2020. Once the pandemic lockdowns began, I took the lack of commuting time and being stuck at home as a clear signal the universe was telling me to get writing. So between February, March, and April I buckled down and completed the first draft on April 11, 2020. Since then along with editing Pax Machina, I’ve written two novellas and Mechs and Machinations (Mechhaven: Book Two).
In the process of writing Pax Machina, I discovered there were many more stories to be told in that universe. I’ll be exploring those stories in the rest of the novels and novellas. Currently, I have plans for the first Mechhaven series to be at least five novels and five novellas (and maybe a few short stories). Of course, that can change, but I’ll do my best to stick to that. Beyond that as one of my favorite green aliens is apt to say “…always in motion is the future.”
